Morpheus 8 V

Morpheus 8-V
Treats: vaginal atrophy, dryness and pain during intercourse, frequent vaginal
infections, loss of external sensation, urinary incontinence
As our bodies transition into menopause, we gradually lose estrogen and the tissues of the
vagina (inside) and vulva (outside) are affected in many ways. The previously thickened tissues
of the vagina and vulva become thinner due to a loss of collagen, making them more prone to
tearing. Due to changes in blood flow, the vagina also produces less lubrication, causing
dryness. In addition to vaginal changes, the muscles of the pelvic floor that support the bladder
weaken over time, especially in women who have delivered children vaginally. Weakening of
pelvic floor muscles can lead to urinary leakage, or incontinence. Together, these vaginal and
urinary symptoms are referred to as “genitourinary symptoms of menopause,” or GSM, and
have a huge impact on quality of life and intimacy for many women.
Morpheus 8-V uses radiofrequency (RF) waves combined with microneedling technology to
deliver precise amounts of energy and trigger your body’s healing response, which includes
redirecting blood flow to the area and new cellular growth and collagen formation. These factors
encourage a healthy vaginal tissue structure that is thicker, more flexible, and better able to
self-lubricate. Morpheus 8-V’s handpiece also penetrates in 3 dimensions so deeper layers of
the vaginal walls are targeted. After treatment, their strengthened network of connective tissue
can lift the pelvic floor muscles together and create tightening to improve incontinence
symptoms.
Several clinical trials have shown that RF and Morpheus 8-V treatments are extremely safe and
effective. A recent trial studied 30 female participants who received a single RF treatment
intravaginally and on the vulva. The treatment was well-tolerated with no adverse effects. Two
months post-treatment, all outcomes that were rated by participants, including ratings of vaginal
symptoms, sexual matters, quality of life, pelvic floor impact and stress urinary incontinence,
were all significantly improved compared to pre-treatment (1). Another study of 56 patients who
received 3 RF treatments 4 weeks apart showed improvements in urinary incontinence that
were still apparent at 6-months post-treatment (2).
We are so excited to introduce Morpheus 8-V to our patients and work with you to customize a
treatment plan to address your specific needs. Have questions? Feel free to ask Dr. Lane or a
medical assistant!
